In this session PhD students will be introduced by Professor Michael Osborne to the key considerationsin writing an excellent paper for publication in an international journal. In a previous session, Professor Osborne introduced PhD students to the key concepts of originality, significance and rigour, and will briefly re-introduce these.
In this session, he will focus on detail of the writing of a paper as follows:
•How to decide on a title
•How to structure a paper
•Keywords
•The Abstract
•Aspects of Clarity - in purpose, argument and prose
•Integration of theory, conceptual frameworks and research methods As a former Q1 journal editor
He will also supply tips on choosing the best journal to which you might submit, and how to deal with rejection (which we all get!). Participants will be invited to circulate in advance papers that they are considering to publish for discussion with their peers.
